By the arrival at this port last evening of the United States mail steamship Arago, we receive four days' later intelligence from Europe. The Financial news from abroad offers nothing worthy of special comment. Affairs were much the same as at last advices. There had been further failures in Great Britain: in the North of Europe the crises continues with very little change.

NEWS OF THE DAY.

The R. M. steamship Niagara, from Liverpool on the 19th ult, with three days' later news from Europe, and now fully due at Halifax, had not been heard from at a late hour last night. A heavy westerly gale was blowing off the coast, and the weather was otherwise unfavorable.

The ship Hibernia, of London from Quebec, for Belfast, was water-logged and abandoned Dec. 6. Crow landed here by the Hermann. By Telegraph to Elwood Walter, Esq. NORFOLK, Wednesday, Dec. 30. The clipper ship Grey Eagle, of Philadelphia, from City Point for Rio, put in here dismasted.

In the midst of the fillibuster excitement we have another element turning up to plague the Administration and ? its embarrassments. "Extremes meet,"--and Nicaragua at one end and Kansas at the other, rush upon us with startling events at the same instant. The intelligence that the Constitution of Kansas has been ? with the Pro-Slavery clause is a bomb-shell which the Administration did not anticipate.

Johnson County, Kansas, gives 2,000 majority for Slavery. Thirteen hundred votes were cast at Oxford. Wyandotte gives 14 majority against Slavery. Governor DENVER had given up the Territorial arms to the militia, Various rumors were in circulation relative to affairs at Fort Scott, but none of them are of an authoritative character.
